The specification
Every claim here is checkable, which is the point of listing them rather than describing the building as secure.
- 9R construction — the highest UL vault structure rating available, and the standard the Federal Reserve builds to.
- Two 14,000-pound John Tann doors, imported from England, forming a waterproof and airtight seal.
- Rated above 250 mph sustained wind, and sited above the flood plain.
- Man-trap entry: nobody passes through both doors at once.
- Modeled on Bank Hauser in Basel, Switzerland.
- Operating on the Galt Ocean Mile since 1983, with zero security incidents in over forty years.
Come and look at it
Tours are private and by appointment, and no account relationship is required to visit. The vault is considerably more persuasive in person than any page about it, which is why we would rather you came.
It is also the simplest way to test everything else on this site. A custodian comfortable showing you the building is usually comfortable answering the harder questions too.
What it is not
Florida Intervault is not a bank. It takes no deposits, offers no lending and provides no banking service. Stored contents are not FDIC insured — no vault contents anywhere are, including at a bank.
Contents coverage is available separately through Lloyd's of London and is arranged with you rather than assumed.
